The Raspberry Pi single-pay cheap mini-computer has already been used everywhere-now the researchers from the University of Southampton, led by Professor Simon Cox, have reached the lead from Raspberry to build a supercomputer using the famous LEGO children’s designer. Professor Cox ordered 64 mini-computers for conducting a scientific experiment and, apparently, not one LEGO set. Each Raspberry was equipped with a 16 GB SD card and was installed in a “rack”, for the manufacture of which the designer was used. Thus, the total volume of disk space of the resulting “cluster” was 1 TB. All boards were combined into a local Ethernet network. The total cost of the described solution was about $ 4030.
