Many scientific institutions of the world try to recreate the living creations of nature in the form of robots. The team of researchers from South Korea and the United States managed to create a robot that looks like a water meter and imitates its movement in water. The insect is capable of pushing away from water due to surface tension – the water meter pushes away from the surface of the water without tearing it. Scientists used the super -speed camera and shot insects on it, thanks to this they were able to recreate the movements that the water meter makes during jumps. The robot turned out to be very small: “torso” – 2 cm, and the paws – 5 cm each. One of the practical applications may be control of pollution of reservoirs.
