The experimental aircraft Solar Impulse 2 on sunny batteries on March 9, 2015 went on a trip around the world from Abu Dhabi Airport to the UAE. As planned by the organizers, Voyage was supposed to last 5 months, during this time the aircraft required to overcome about 35 thousand kilometers in 25 days of actual flight. The most grandiose stage of the experiment was a five -day flight across the Pacific Ocean from Japan to the Hawaiian Islands, but it was a serious test – the solar batteries of the aircraft overheated and were damaged. As a result of technical malfunctions, the continuation of the roundabout had to be postponed until April 2016. And on April 23, 2016, Solar Impulse 2 completed the ninth stage of the trip, overcoming a distance of 4,300 km from Hawaii to California in 3 days. If everything goes according to the planned plan, then there is still a flight to New York and a serious transatlantic flight ahead of the airplane in sunny batteries. The end point of the journey will be the city of Abu Dhabi in the UAE, from where Solar Impulse 2 in 2015 went to the horizons.
