Research group of Dr. Han Chi-Chi-Kh-Khih from the Korean Institute of Energy Research (Kier) has developed a new technology of the Smart Window. It is able to automatically adjust the amount of light entering the room by changing the color of the window depending on the intensity of sunlight.
Moreover, the technology does not require electricity due to the presence of a light-absorbing layer. Researchers explain that this can reduce prices for the energy consumed by the energy by 30-50 %. And since there is no need in a separate
Power source, it helps to reduce its cost.
The intellectual window blocks sunlight well in large area, so it can be used for large buildings with high cooling costs. Glass blocks both the visible spectrum of light and infrared rays.
The research group also succeeded in creating shielding technology – in fact, having developed a film that can be glued to existing window glasses. If the production of such films is successful, they can be used not only on buildings, but also in cars, ships and aircraft.
