Aava Mobile – a completely open mobile device

Aava Mobile offers an open sample of the development of smartphones and tablet PCs with the capabilities of a personal computer. This sample is intended for manufacturers who could modify it at their own discretion. The prototype presented on the MWC is based on the Moorestown platform with the Intel Atom processor. The dimensions of the device case are 64 x 125 x 11.7 mm, which makes it the thinnest smartphone based on the X86 platform. According to the creators, various open OSs can be used in the prototype, including Moblin 2.1, Android, as well as Meego, the support of which will become available in the near future. The characteristics of the device include an expanded touch screen, compatibility with Full HD video, port Micro USB, a 5-megapixel chamber with an LED flash and a 2-megapixel front camera for HD video conferences, two microphones with support for Echo suppression technology, a 3D-user interface and 3D-sound, GSM support, the presence of GPS, WiFi, compass and accelerometer.
