
Requests to the search giant regarding the removal of references to pirate content reached a record value last week, amounting to 21 million units. For comparison, in the same period in 2015, the number of requests of copyright holders was 9.5 million. And for the whole of 2014, Google received 345 million requests.
Removal requests are sent by copyright holders and their interests of the agency who monitor the network. The number of queries has increased significantly since Google began publishing reports in July 2011. In that year, Google received less than 1 million requests for removing links to pirate content.
