The Japanese company Kokoro said their Humanoid robot Actroid-Sit has become a more socialized model. This means that this realistic version of the girl can work with a large number of people. She is able to keep eye contact, speech and gestures to explain with the interlocutor. When necessary, Actroid-Sit will interrupt the programmed story and quickly answer a new question. She knows 18 gestures, for example, “indicate” or “wave”, automatically adapts to the position of the interlocutor, as a result of which it seems to a person that the robot really pays attention to him. Although the conversation with Actroid is still far from natural communication, the study participants confirmed that this model acts more naturally, so communication causes friendly and warm feelings.
