Alan Turing’s notebook left the hammer for a million dollars

On the eve of the Bonhams auction in New York, the manuscript of Alan Turing, brilliant mathematics, logic and cryptographer, who played a big role in the development of computer science, left the hammer. It is claimed that she is the only surviving manuscript of Turing.

A unique notebook for 56 pages left the hammer for $ 1.025 million. In it, Alan Turing made notes dedicated to mathematical theory and logic during the Second World War. According to experts, the records were dated no earlier than 1942, when he was engaged in hacking the famous German encryption machine Enigma, providing his allies with vital information, which helped reduce the war.

“This is a wonderful result indicating the importance of the heritage of Alan Turing. We are very pleased that all people who know the price of this unique lot were involved in the auction, and indeed, the wide public recognized the importance of Turing in history, ”says Kassandra Hutton, manuscripts specialist in the British auction house Bonhams.

We add that some of the money proceeds from the sale of the turing manuscript will go to charity.
