Do not like store lines at the box office, crush and inhospitable sellers? Amazon, better known all over the world, as an Internet platform for the sale of goods, opened its first almost familiar store, in which there are no those negative factors accompanying the campaign to the supermarket. Amazon GO experimental grocery store works without a cash desk and sellers, while buyers do not need to show their purchases to any of the employees of the outlet. You don’t even need to get a wallet, a bank card or a smartphone with an appropriate service to pay for purchased goods. Amazon Go philosophy is simple – came in, took products and left.
The company does not disclose the subtleties of the entire accounting and control system, but the essence of the technology is built at the work of countless sensors, computer vision and machine analysis. At the entrance to the store, the buyer must attach his smartphone to the scanning device, on which the Amazon Go application is open with a special QR code. After that, the device can be put in the bag, it will no longer be needed. The smart system defines a person and creates his virtual check. Everything that is taken from the shelves is automatically reflected in his “virtual cart”. If the buyer changed his mind to take something and put the goods back on the shelf, this product is automatically removed from its check. As soon as the visitor of Amazon Go leaves the store, the Just Walk Out system writes off the total amount of its purchase from the balance on Amazon.
So far, the company has opened only one experimental grocery store with an area of 170 m² in Seattle for employees of the company as part of testing, but already in early 2017 it will become available to everyone.
