Amazon patents underwater warehouse with self -splash containers for goods

The world ocean is great, and only its surface is used, while the depths are empty. And the same can be said about any more or less large reservoir near any settlement. And the world giant online trading ends with the potential for the development of ground storage facilities. Fold everything together and get a project of an underwater automated warehouse.

The patent’s application came to the field of view of the press in the middle of this summer. Amazon does not claim to operate a specific lake or sea, any pool, even a puddle, if it is a decent depth, is suitable for arranging a warehouse. The main thing is the ability to fill the empty underwater space with hermetic containers with a useful load.

Each container is equipped with an acoustic signal receiver with an individual code, so you just need to “shout” into the water correctly so that it receives a command for ascent. For this, compressed air in the cylinder and inflatable bags on the roof of the container are used. Moreover, the gas does not act like that – the bags are inflated in such an order that the structure pops up in the right direction and swims to the shore itself.

It is not clear from the explanatory note to the patent application who will control the process of drowning and raising containers, robot or person. But there is also a system of tunnels for an underwater warehouse, according to which containers can immediately go to the right addressee. It is not so difficult to dig a large reservoir under the city, with a network of pipelines to deliver goods to stores without chasing trucks along the streets, is it not so?

Is there a need for such innovations? Yes, and what else – forecasts regarding the development of the Amazon trading business draw the need for millions of sq.m., where the robot class will take place with containers thousands of kilometers a day. And under water, all this can be realized almost without energy, only at the expense of the Law of Archimedes.
