OWC released AURA solid -state drives for MacBook Air and MacBook Pro

Other World Computing (OWC) announced the solid -state drives of the AURA line for laptops MacBook Air 2010–2012. release, as well as MacBook Pro with the Retina 2012 display–2013.

AURA data storage devices are made using Nand flash memory. The speed of reading information reaches 555 MB/s, recording speed — 530 MB/s.

Drives are available in versions with a capacity of 120, 240 and 480 GB.

The line of drives and the prices for them are as follows:

For Apple MacBook Air laptops released in 2010, 2011 and 2012.:

  • 120 GB — $ 95;
  • 240 GB — $ 159;
  • 480 GB — $ 299.

For the Apple Retina MacBook Pro laptopes entering the market in 2012–2013.:

  • 240 GB — $ 159;
  • 480 GB — $ 299.

According to IHS ISUPPLI, the volume of the global market for solid-state drives this year will increase by about a third compared to 2013 — from $ 9.4 to $ 12.4 billion. In 2017, it is expected to reach $ 20 billion.
