AMD’s profit fell by almost 3 times

The manufacturer of microprocessors Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), which recently changed the manager, reported on the financial results of the third quarter. Both profit and sales of an American company decreased.

In July-September 2014, AMD revenue amounted to $ 1.43 billion, which is 2 % less than a year earlier. Net profit decreased from last year’s $ 48 million, or 6 cents per share, to the current $ 17 million, or 2 cents per security for one securities. Operating profit for the segments of the time under consideration fell from 95 to 63 million dollars.


The adjusted profit of the chipmaker, from which some expenses were deducted, turned out to be $ 20 million, or 3 cents per share, over the past quarter. Wall Street predicted an indicator at the level of 4 cents per share with revenue of $ 1.47 billion.

Recall that in June, AMD conducted a reorganization, within which the business company was divided into two units — Computing and Graphics Business Group (desktop and mobile processors and chipset, graphic solutions) and Enterprise, Embeded and Semi-Custom Business Group (chips for servers and built-in technology, custom-made circuit, license sale). The first of them ended the third quarter with an operational loss of $ 17 million and a 16-percent decline in sales in annual calculus.

Revenue in Enterprise, Embeded and Semi-Custom Business Group fell 21 % compared to last year, and the operational profit of the unit amounted to $ 108 million.
