An incandescent lamp competing in effectiveness with LEDs has been created

The main advantage of fluorescent and LED lamps compared to obsolete incandescent lamps is in efficiency. However, a new study made it possible to create threads radiating lights that are not inferior, and possibly even superior modern LEDs.

The fact is that a lot of energy in incandescent lamps goes as heat. The team of researchers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology came up with the method of returning heat back to the thread of incandescent. Scientists themselves called this process “disposal of light”.

Several layers of crystals acting like mirrors that reflect infrared radiation were used as thermal insulation, “returning” it back to heating the thread. As a result of this, the light becomes brighter. As one of the researchers Marin Solyachich said:

“The system we invented processes energy, which otherwise would disappear in vain”.

The prototype of the bulb created by scientists works 6 % more efficiently low -budget LEDs. According to the developers, in the future this figure can be brought to 40 %.
