The video game market in the United States did not live up to expectations

The fall in the number of games for the whole year amounted to 8%, from $ 18.59 to $ 17.02 billion. Over the past month, games and consoles brought $ 3.99 billion to developers, which is 21% less, if compared with December 2010, when the amount for sales of video games was slightly exceeded $ 5.07 billion. It was expected that in December, sales were supposed to make most of the total volume per year, but this did not happen. In December, according to statistics, the volume of games implemented amounted to only 23% of the annual.

A similar picture is observed in the console segment, which brought manufacturers an amount of 28% less than it was in 2010, namely $ 1.32 billion. Demand also decreased for games – by 14%. Compared to 2010, instead of $ 2.37 billion, developers received only $ 2.04 billion. Over the year, the revenue amounted to $ 8.83 billion (6% less than it was in 2010).

  • Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (360, PS3, PC);
  • NBA 2K12 (360, PS3, WII, PSP, PS2, PC);
  • Super Mario 3D Land (3DS);
