13,000 years ago, a fiery storm destroyed 10% of the Earth’s surface

In 2018, a large -scale study started, the purpose of which is to check the hypothesis that the Earth in the early Drias became a victim of a catastrophic blow of a giant comet. This happened 13,000 years ago, when the planet had already left the glaciation period, but suddenly a couple of centuries froze again. The reason is known, this is filling the atmosphere with an incredible amount of dust and ash – but this is what gave rise to?

The previous version of the reason for the freezing of the Earth in the early Drias is the eruption of the Supervulcan Laah in the territory of modern Germany, when the nearby lands were covered with a layer of ash almost 50 m thick. However, a new study discovered in the mythology of the ancient peoples an indication of a comet hit, which caused an incredible fire. According to calculations, then 10 % of the surface of the planet burned down, and living conditions for already more than reasonable human tribes have changed catastrophically, which could not but affect their culture.

Other studies revealed an abnormal amount in the layers of ash and soot platinum, which is often found in comets and asteroids. The layer of deposits itself contains many products of biomass combustion, such as ammonium and nitrates. The study of the preserved pollen samples showed that spacious pine forests were destroyed overnight, and the devastated lands settled the poplars, which are well adapted to such conditions.

Scientists believe that the ancient comet had a diameter of about 100 km, but fell apart, of which only a few reached the surface of the planet. It is possible that other fragments are still circling in the solar system. However, a large -scale fire from this event does not at all abolish the eruption of the volcano and other factors, so the final conclusion that it was the reason for the early Drias disaster to make.
