The new planet was discovered as part of the programs for the study of young stars Shine and Disk. According to The Guardian, the opening was made by employees of the European South Observatory using one of the most powerful VLT (Very Large Telescope).
“Newborn” is located at a distance of 370 light years from the Earth and eventually become part of the PDS 70 star system, located in the constellation Centaur. The distance between the star and the new planet approximately corresponds to the distance from uranium to the sun, that is, about 2.9 billion. km. Analysis of the images showed that the temperature on its surface can reach 1000 ° C, and by mass it surpasses Jupiter.
A few words about the telescope VLT. It is located in Chile in the Paranal Observatory at an altitude of 2635 meters and is a complex of four separate 8.2-meter and four auxiliary 1.8-meter telescope with a virtual mirror diameter of 130 meters.
